I love the Beatnik Termites. They are just so great that it's amazing. Their music is surf-punk mixed with pop-punk with a little bit of 50's style rock thrown for good measure. Their singing is what really makes them stand out though. It's kinda high pitch sounding and they have great harmonies. Whew. This interview took place at the Fireside Bowl down in Chicago on Friday, may 30th. Read on...

SF:
SO HOW LONG ARE YOU GUYS GOING ON TOUR FOR? GOING ANY PLACE INTERESTING?
JOSH:
Just for a couple of shows. This is our first time out of Ohio so we're really excited. After tonight we're playing in Detroit. Tomorrow and the next weekend, we're going back to Cleveland and back to Pittsburg the next day.

SF:
HOW HAS THE TURNOUT BEEN FOR YOUR SHOWS? LOTS OF PEOPLE?
JOSH:
This show is our first show in two years and it turned out great. We're all having a great time!

SF:
HOW LONG HAS THE BAND BEEN AROUND, AND HOW DID IT GET STARTED UP?
JOSH:
It has been around for about ten years. Pat and Reggie met in college and I just recently joined the band.

SF:
ANYTHING INTERESTING HAPPEN AT YOUR FIRST SHOW?
JOSH:
Nothing out of the ordinary. We just had a great time.

SF:
I DON"T KNOW IF I HAVE THIS STRAIGHT OR NOT, BUT DON'T YOU HAVE ANOTHER FULL LENGTH RELEASE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY BESIDE "TASTE THE SAND"? I THINK I READ THAT SOMEWHERE...
JOSH:
There is a self released album which was the first release of ours. It is self titled.

SF:
HOW MANY RECORDS HAVE YOU RELEASED IN THE PAST?
JOSH:
A lot. There is two full lengths and the live album just came out. We also have numerous seven inches.

SF:
ANY NEW RECORDINGS PLANNED?
JOSH:
There is a session planned for this summer. We're recording a new seven inch.

SF:
YOUR BAND HAS A VERY UNIQUE SOUND. WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
JOSH:
We pull a lot of our influences from the early Rock n' Roll groups of the 50's like the girl group "The Shirelles."

SF:
ANOTHER THING I HEARD, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S TRUE IS THAT YOU'RE DOING A RAMONES COVER ALBUM. IF IT'S TRUE, WHICH ONE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
JOSH:
Actually we just got out of the Sonic Iguana today. We recorded "Pleasent Dreams" for Clearview. We're going back to mix over the summer.

SF:
YOU COULD HIT SOMEONE OVER THE HEAD WITH THE CLAW PART OF A HAMMER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
JOSH:
It would have to be this one skinhead at this show we played. He was giving us all kinds of shit and called Pat unmentionable Korean vulgarities. Or it would be this one skinny twerp back in Cleveland.

SF:
WHO IS THIS ANGEL PERSON?...YOU HAVE LOTS OF SONGS ABOUT HER!
JOSH:
It's about reggie. One day, as the story goes, she saw his dick!

SF:
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE 80'S T.V. SITCOM?
JOSH:
My favorite 80's sitcom would have to be Different Strokes. Gary Coleman is the sweetest midget actor alive, and I slept with him.

SF:
HEY, THANKS FOR DOING THIS YUCKY INTERVIEW! DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER THINGS YOU'D LIKE TO SAY?
JOSHh:
We all masturbate. Constantly.

THE END
